Dreamy Lightroom Presets used: A Summer Gaze
I’ve been dreaming of this shoot since the first time I laid eyes on the Seashore Motel in Santa Monica two years ago. I’m so glad I waited for the perfect model, car, and brand partner (Full Moons Club,) to make my vision come true. The concept of the shoot was light colors to compliment the beachy pink and blues of the motel to create an airy whimsical look ala vintage Playboy aesthetic. You can see my mood board below.
To prepare for this shoot, I went to the motel in advance to scope out what the lighting at the time I day I wanted to shoot. I decided the morning light was perfect because not only is it a soft dreamy look, the second floor balcony was draped in beautiful shadows created from the fencing around it. I used a 1967 Mercury Monterey vintage car as the most fun prop of all time.
I asked the model, Kenzie Harr, to come with natural makeup and wavy hair. I pull wardrobe in pink, blues, and yellow tones to compliment the set. Here is where you can find the looks!
Savage Fenty: Blue robe and lingerie set
Oceanus Swimwear: Pink Shirley cutout swimsuit
H&M: Pink and white striped blouse
As for gear, I used my usual Fuji xt3 with a Black Pro Mist #3 filter from Tiffen on the lens. I’ve started dabbling in film, so I used a Pentax K1000 with a 6pt star filter, also from Tiffen, to give me incredible star like bling on any surfaces the sun reflected off of. I used Kodak Color Plus 200 film since we were shooting in bright daylight. Lastly, I shot Pro 8mm 400 Color Negative Film on a Nikon R8 Super 8 film camera to shoot video. This is the first time I’ve ever played with a Super 8 camera and am excited to see how the footage turns out. TBD because it is being developed and I very well may have messed it up since it was my first time. Fingers crossed it worked out because anything wrong will be an expensive mistake!
After the shoot, I color edited the photos in Adobe Lightroom where I created custom presets to complete the vibe I’m going for. Check them out here for purchase!
